Founded by a woman and composed of a predominantly female team, CREM invites Sophie Saurini, Head of Wealth Management & Private Banking of CMB Monaco, to take the stage. A Gold Member of the Club, CMB Monaco upholds parity and equality through its “Women in Finance” activities.
"We shouldn't forget that we're part of a leading European group, Mediobanca, which, in 2022, launched a vast programme on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion known as 'ToDEI.' The importance of closing the gender gap in order to increase competitiveness and attract the best talent is recognised and integrated into our strategic objectives. It is in this way that we want to distinguish ourselves from other institutions and other industries..." - Francesco Grosoli, CEO de CMB Monaco.
What can be said about equality between men and women at CMB Monaco and in finance generally?
Overall, we are seeing a positive evolution, with more women than before, although we are still struggling with parity in salaries and status – too few women are managers or directors. Progress still needs to be made in Monaco and throughout Europe. At CMB Monaco, we are active in this field, with 49% of our employees being women, 71% of whom are executives – 18 are wealth managers or private bankers, and 17 are managers. We have built a culture that promotes increased awareness of equality among the staff.
CMB Monaco took the time to analyse differences between men's and women's salaries and to measure each person's skills without reference to gender. We thus won this label certified by the Société Générale de Surveillance, of which we are very proud. Today, CMB Monaco treats its staff independently of gender, paying them equal salaries. We enjoy a fair and equitable work environment, in which everyone is valued, whether men or women. We have also developed a mentoring system for all, so that everybody can reflect on his or her role and the possibility of evolving.
First, to fight the "impostor syndrome," which prevents women from being daring. They must believe in themselves. Self-confidence is essential. We are as competent as any male counterpart and have our part to play. Women must express their ambitions more clearly and directly, as men do, to progress in their careers. They must constantly develop their skills, pursue training, be curious, read, and call on coaches, in order to advance and grow in value – above all, for themselves. They must also build a robust network, cultivate professional and personal relationships, always learning from others.
