On the 25th anniversary of the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, Sylvie Biancheri, its General Manager since 2003, recalls the highlights of this ongoing adventure.
A feeling of satisfaction! The Grimaldi Forum has fulfilled the double mission entrusted to it by the Prince’s Government: to become a major cultural player and a vector for business tourism. The aim was to position Monaco among Europe’s leading congress centres. The development of recurring large-scale events is a good example, now on a year-round basis. On the cultural scene, it involved creating a way of sparking international awareness. Given “carte blanche”, we proposed a major annual exhibition in summer, shows for the public, including Monaco residents, so that they could identify with the Forum. A challenge won hands down: acclaimed for its excellence, our programme contributes to the Grimaldi Forum’s renown, well beyond our borders. With a building that is ecologically designed and operated, as a bonus!
Our summer exhibitions have been great cultural successes: The Grace Kelly Years drew 135,000 visitors in 2007 and was the first time we exported our know-how beyond our walls. The travelling exhibitions Queens of Egypt, Francis Bacon and From Chagall to Malevich perpetuated this momentum. Our many collaborations with first class institutions such as the Pompidou Centre, have also strengthened our reputation. The extension inaugurated in January 2025 was essential to accompany the growth of business tourism in the Principality. Finally, the Forum’s attractiveness resides in a close-knit, proud and loyal team, as well as the constant support of Prince Albert II, our N°1 ambassador.
Depending on events, we regularly propose group group pricing for CREM Members and welcome them each year for a privileged tour of our summer exhibition. This collaboration helps to spread the word about our programme among the Principality’s foreign residents. A vital audience for us, given the cultural diversity of our agenda, which features international productions such as British musical comedies.
An intense and eclectic season, with around forty shows and concerts between now and the opening of our major summer exhibition dedicated to Monaco and the automobile. The entire program is online: don't delay in booking!
